Welcome to Negative Capability #3
This issue has some of the best stuff I have ever written and I am proud of the way it came out. It took me a long time to write and design this issue but most people that saw it felt like it was worth the wait. Decide for yourself and buy a copy!

The centerfold story in this issue is about visiting New York City because at the time I was writing it, I was thinking that I would be moving soon. Rather than have all that useful information leave with me, I thought it would be a good idea to put it all down in a story. I finished the story after I had moved to San Francisco and I was really homesick. I kept telling myself that I would probably go back to NYC eventually, but while I was there I tried to make the best of it. Now I look back on the two years in SF as a pleasant vacation that I needed to take. NYC is very intense, as the story suggests, and sometimes that intensity can be overwhelming. It’s definitely not for everyone, but it’s one of those places you have to see before you die or you can’t say that you’ve really lived. That’s my opinion, but it’s also the truth, which may be a coincidence.

This issue was the only one that I took ads for. When I started the zine I thought I could pay for the first two myself, and by then, it would be doing well enough to generate some ad revenue. It turned out that selling ads, getting the ads, placing the ads and then trying to get paid for them took way more of my time than the ads actually brought in. When I looked at all the time I had wasted trying to secure a few nickels from some real deadbeats, I decided it was a waste of time. I would rather spend my time making money to print without ads than to be involved with the schlocky salesman side of the zine business. I guess it’s not even technically a business because a business makes money or goes out of business. This zine has always lost money and it’s not going anywhere.
